Adding your music

Muzik 2007 watches folders you already have. Nothing is copied, moved, renamed, or written into them.

  1. Go to settings and choose add folder.
  2. Pick any folder your music lives in. Subfolders are included.
  3. That’s it — new files that appear there are picked up automatically. rescan forces a fresh look if something is missing.

It reads MP3, M4A/AAC, FLAC and WAV, with tags and embedded artwork. Missing details can be filled in from a lookup, or edited by hand — select several songs and edit them together. Tag edits change the library only; your files are never rewritten.

The mp3 downloader — direct-download version only

This one is not in the Microsoft Store version. If you installed from the Store there is no mp3 downloader page; get the direct download if you want it.

Paste a link on the mp3 downloader page. The audio is saved as a tagged 192 kbps mp3 in the Muzik 2007 folder inside your Music folder, which is watched like any other, so it appears in your collection straight away. You can leave the page — the download keeps going.

You are responsible for having the right to download whatever you paste. See the Terms of Use.

Syncing to your phone

  1. Install Muzik 2007 on your Android phone.
  2. On the PC, open settings › sync.
  3. On the phone, go to sync › pair and either type the six-digit code or scan the QR.

Everything crosses your own Wi-Fi. Nothing uploads, and there is no account.

If the phone can’t see the PC:

Android

Sync pulls your library from the Windows app; see the steps above. The player is the Zune HD interface: drag on the touchpad to scroll, tap the centre to select, menu to go back, and play/pause and skip on the pad.

Settings covers the equalizer, the Silver and Black shells, the background gradients, repeat, and which songs to delete.

Mac and iPhone

Getting started

  1. Install Muzik 2007 on your Mac.
  2. Add music — drag MP3s in, or paste a link in the direct-download version.
  3. Open Muzik 2007 on your iPhone and tap Sync.

Mac and iPhone sync through your own iCloud account, not over Wi-Fi.

If syncing doesn’t work

Background playback stopped?

Make sure the app wasn’t force-closed, and that Low Power Mode isn’t restricting background activity.
